Dover Outreach Centre
Catching Lives is one of the very few day centres in Kent for the homeless in our communities. The only night shelter provision is during the winter months through the life saving Winter Churches Shelters.
This has never been enough, and thankfully Christians Together in Dover, and Proactive Kent have decided to act. campaign4change were asked to get involved to evidence need in the area, and we have spent the last two months accessing the current Dover Drop-In service. This service is run at St Alphege's Church Hall on a Tuesday from 10am until 4pm, it's a calm environment which offers a cooked breakfast to those that attend.
The local authority figures for homelessness stated that there are 9 individuals sleeping rough in Dover. I met with 16 individuals who accessed only one venue, once per week. This enabled me to write a report for Dover Outreach Centre. The Research Paper highlighted the imperative need for mental health services within the project, and the need to work in partnership with drug and alcohol organisations as a priority.
Catching Lives are always keen to work together for best practice, and are pleased that campaign4change were asked and were able to provide this evidence based document to establish a great need in the area for the Dover Outreach Centre.
Have a read of The Research Paper, we're always interested in your feedback.
